In this part of the French Ardennes around Tourteron there are ancient orchards. The region is known for the Reine des Reinettes apples. The gentle, rolling terrain is fantastic for walking and cycling with views of orchards, meadows, fields, and forests.

The heart of Europe is marked by a long and turbulent history with many battles and wars in which bishop seats, imperial cities, and battle lines played important roles.
Worthwhile day trips include Charleville-Mezieres, Reims, and Paris. The Castle of Sedan, the Monument of the Battle of Verdun, and the Abbey Gardens in Mouzon are certainly impressive and worth the trip.

Playing on natural terrain
The cottage is a perfect base for a short golfing holiday with friends. It is close: there are two courses within a radius of 30km (the crackling fire and half-board are optional). You can play golf in the hills, at an abbey in the woods, or on top of a WWII battle line.

Weekend Bargain-Hunting
All around the Champagne-Ardennes are flea markets, antique markets, and garage sales. These local flea markets are especially great in the summer. Imagine finding an undiscovered Cezanne, the perfect fruit bowl, or a set of gold candlesticks for 5 euro: now that would really seal a great holiday.

French cuisine is well renowned for its excellence. In and around Reims there is a wide range of top restaurants. And even within a radius of 30 km from the mill there are three restaurants rated in the Michelin Red Guide.
Personally we love Les Echevins. With 8 people at the mill this chef de cuisine from Mouzon will come to prepare a three course meal specially for you. Nice present for a birthday or after a long walk. With 6 people or in the weekends he can prepare you a meal that you only have to heaten. Feel free to ask for the price. You'll be amazed.
